WHAT IS NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE?
Art, Science, & Philosophy
Naturopathic medicine employs modern, traditional, scientific and empirical methods in the prevention and treatment of disease.
The naturopathic physician is informed by six
underlying principles of healing which are:
1. Work with the healing power of nature
2. Identify and treat the cause
3. First do no harm
4. Treat the whole person
5. Doctor as teacher
6. Encourage prevention
Mind, Body, & Soul
The primary goal of naturopathic medicine is to treat the underlying cause of illness. Our treatment plans reflect ‘whole’ person healthcare, importantly honouring the mind-body connection. All matters relating to chronic health conditions are treated at Sage Clinic.
An initial visit is typically one hour in length. Your naturopathic physician listens to your full health history, a physical examination may be performed and if indicated lab testing will be recommended. A thorough treatment plan is provided and follow up visits are often recommended to ensure your care is comprehensive and effective.
“The art of medicine is to follow nature, to imitate and assist her in the cure of disease.”THOMAS REID
