IV Therapy for Enhancing Nutrition and Strengthening Immunity
There are many things that can get in the way of proper nutrition even if you are eating a healthy diet. Health factors such as poor digestion, chronic gas and bloating, high stress, long hours, air travel, chronic cough, recurrent cold or sore throat can potentially affect how your body absorbs and utilizes nutrients. In these suboptimal circumstances, even if we are eating well, our brain cannot get sufficient glucose – its only fuel – which can lead to foggy thinking, low mood, sleep disturbance, mild depression and memory issues. Intravenous (IV) vitamin and mineral therapy is an easy way to give the body and brain a boost of nutrients. The ingredients include vitamins and minerals which bypass the digestive system and liver and go directly to cells. Benefits include improved mood, energy, sleep and skin, a supported and strengthened immune system and a decrease in asthma symptoms. Treating the underlying cause of decreased nutrient absorption and utilization remains the essential approach to long-term health and well-being, however IV vitamin therapy is an effective short-term measure to enhance nutrition when life gets busy and when the winter months get you down.

Testing for Food Sensitivities
by Dr. Lisa Polinsky
Food sensitivities can impact health significantly and affect people of all ages at different times in their life. Food sensitivities or intolerances differ from allergies in that they may be tolerated in small amounts or with the avoidance of other irritants. Often, when people are seeking to improve their health, the identification and elimination of food sensitivities enables the body to improve function, assist elimination and support the immune system. Many patients claim to notice improved energy, weight loss, better sleep, reduced hormonal symptoms and improved digestive function when they follow a plan to reduce or eliminate the irritant foods.
A simple in-office way to determine food sensitivities is the Vega or EAV (electroacupuncture according to Voll) method of electrodermal resistance testing. It is gentle, non-invasive, and provides immediate results. Dr. Lisa Polinsky provides this method of testing. If you are working with another physician at Sage Clinic you can be referred to Dr. Polinsky for this specific test. If you are wondering whether food sensitivities are affecting your health, discuss testing for food sensitivities with your naturopathic physician.
