Libido-Boosting Smoothie

Low libido is a common concern and may be due to multiple reasons including biological (hormone imbalance), physical and/or mental-emotional factors (i.e. stress, fatigue and lack of connection). This delicious, nutrient-dense, libido-boosting smoothie can be used as part of a comprehensive treatment to support a healthy libido.

Maca is a Peruvian root vegetable that is a rich source of vitamin C, B-vitamins, calcium, iron and copper. It also contains essential amino acids needed to make proteins and hormones. It is also thought to be an aphrodisiac. Ashwagandha root is a traditional Ayurvedic herb used in the treatment of stress and burn-out. Cinnamon, cocoa and ginger are herbs used in increasing circulation and are quite warming. Avocado and coconut oil are good sources of fats that are needed to make sex hormones. Pumpkin seeds are a good source of zinc, which is helpful in the production of testosterone (yes, even women need testosterone!).

½ an avocado
1 frozen banana
1 tsp Organic Traditions maca powder
1 tsp Organic Traditions ashwagandha powder
1.5 tbsp Omega Nutrition pumpkin seed protein powder
1/2 tsp of cocoa powder
1 tsp. fresh grated or powdered ginger
¼ tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp. coconut oil
2 cups hemp or almond milk
Pinch of Himalayan salt
1 tsp of cacao nibs (sprinkled on top of blended smoothie)


Blend all ingredients until smooth and creamy. Water can be added to thin smoothie to desired thickness. Sprinkle the cacao nibs on top and enjoy!
