Dr. Jason Hughes, ND

Dr. Jason Hughes is a naturopathic physician who is truly passionate about helping people achieve greater health.

He graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, where he won several awards including being recognized for his clinical skills.   He also completed a postgraduate residency at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.  Upon completion of his residency, he was asked to stay on as a mentor and teacher to future naturopathic doctors.  He receives great joy in helping both individual patients, at Sage Clinic, and medical students use natural medicine to their advantage.

Dr. Hughes’ background and interests have centered on how we can reach potential in both body and mind.  He created his own undergraduate major entitled Psycho-Physiology, which deepened his understanding of biology, psychology and exercise science.  He has been very active in several forms of martial arts throughout his life, including competing on an international stage in Judo.  And he has sought out various forms of working with the mind, including extensive meditative experience and technical approaches through sources like Harvard Medical School’s clinical training in Mind-Body medicine.

Dr. Hughes is very comfortable in several forms of bodywork including acupuncture, Bowen therapy and various injection techniques.  He also embraces herbal medicine, homeopathy, biotherapeutic drainage and clinical nutrition to bring about changes in internal organ systems.  Perhaps where he shines most though is in helping people see how to work with their minds and patterns of behavior to bring about the health changes they desire.

While he enjoys all facets of family practice, Dr. Hughes holds a special interest in hormonal imbalances (diabetes, thyroid imbalances, and female hormonal issues), gastrointestinal conditions (IBS, food sensitivities, Crohns), autoimmune conditions (MS, rheumatoid arthritis) physical pain and nervous system imbalances (depression, anxiety, insomnia, stress.)

The word “doctor” literally means “teacher”.  Knowing this, Dr. Hughes strives to teach all he comes in contact with to live a more healthy life.  He is open to sharing his passion with individual patients, or any group at large.

A visit with Dr. Hughes has been described as a fun adventure.  Is it time to let your healing adventure begin.

Dr. Hughes is available at Sage Clinic Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for patient consultations, and is currently accepting new patients.
