Sage Clinic was founded in June 2002 by Dr. Samantha Gray, ND RAc and Dr. Arjuna Veeravagu, ND RAc who met while studying at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. After much consideration about choosing a location to open their first practice, the couple decided on Dr. Gray’s hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia. Its natural beauty, diverse population, and vibrant alternative healthcare community made the city their top choice.
Drs. Gray and Veeravagu found the perfect location for their first clinic at 487 Davie Street in the Yaletown district of downtown Vancouver. The clinic is comfortably situated on the second floor of the northeast corner of Davie and Richards, across the street from both the Choices Natural Foods Market and Emery Barnes Park. The clinic is located in the heart of Yaletown’s shopping and residential district and only minutes away from the core of Vancouver’s busy downtown centre. Sage Clinic Vancouver has now grown to a team of nine naturopathic physicians.
With the rapidly expanding growth of our practice and clientele base, the need for a second clinic to complement Sage Clinic Vancouver naturally evolved. In March 2011, with the relocation of one of Sage Clinic Vancouver’s esteemed naturopath’s, Dr. Lisa Polinsky, to Victoria, BC, Sage Clinic opened its second location in The Joseph Building at 304-852 Fort Street, Victoria. Victoria was an ideal second location for Sage Clinic, not only because of the city’s similarly complementary community and environment, but also due to the demand that we have experienced from clients located in and around Vancouver Island. Sage Clinic Victoria currently has a team of four naturopathic physicians available Monday to Friday. Dr. Polinsky’s sustained relationship with the Vancouver practice will help ensure that Sage Clinic Victoria is kept strongly in tune with its Vancouver partner.
Both of our clinic spaces have been renovated to create a unique natural interior – what the doctors like to refer to as an ‘urban healing oasis.’ Nature’s Carpet, low-VOC (volatile organic compound) AFM Safecoat paint, and Valspar Enviro+Plus finishes have all been used to ensure a non-toxic and hypoallergenic environment. Clinic linens are all cleaned at Helping Hand Cleaners, which uses an environmentally friendly wet-cleaning process. The interiors are inspired by the wabi sabi style of Japanese design, allowing for natural tones, beautiful artwork, relaxing world music, soothing aromatherapy, and organic herbal teas to welcome every Sage Clinic patient.
Our clinics strive to offer the highest quality healthcare services with the best customer service in unique healing environments. If you are interested in learning more about Sage Clinic Vancouver or Victoria, or click here if you would like to schedule an appointment.
